Adwords Training Video Lesson 2 of 3

In this video you learn about how to use negative keywords so that you can exclude bad clicks into your account. It comes as part of the territory when using broad match modifiers but by doing this, you start building strong foundations.

Negative Keywords - Lesson 2 of 3

So why are negative keywords important? Its important because we don't want to attract clicks that don't have the right meaning for our business.

Even though you  migth be using good exact, phrase, and broad match modifier keywords, you will still attract some bad clicks.

The benefit is, you tap into the market and find out what doesn't work so that you can start excluding it from your campaign right away, for little to no cost.

Eg if our market is dog food, even though we might use good keyword such as:

"dog food"
[dog food]

+dog +food

Our ads will trigger for this term:

dog food amazon

dog food ebay

As a retailer you will probably want to exclude the words amazon and ebay because their intention is to go those sites. We just happened to get a click of that user who was probably curious.

For service based businesses, you want to exclude words such as:

jobs

vacancy

how to

review
